Golf Labs sends text messages about lessons and account activity, and only to people who have entered their own mobile number and asked for them. This page explains exactly how that works.
Who sends these messages
Golf Labs, a coaching platform used by golf coaches and the players in their academies. Messages come from a single number and relate only to a person's own lessons and account.
How someone opts in
There is exactly one way to receive a text from Golf Labs. A signed-in user types their own mobile number into their own profile, ticks a consent box beside it, and saves. Both steps are required: the box is unticked by default, and a number saved without it is stored for the coach's reference and never texted.
The number field and the consent box are both optional and both blank by default. Leaving them alone means email only, which is a fully supported way to use the product rather than a degraded one.
Nobody can opt in on someone else's behalf. A coach can correct a typo in a player's number, but that is a phone number, not consent — the system records consent separately, only ever from the person it belongs to, and changing someone's number cancels any consent attached to the old one. There is no import, no purchase, and no list of any kind.
This is the exact wording shown beside that box:
Golf Labs will text you lesson reminders, booking confirmations and account notices at this number. Message frequency varies — you only hear from us when something happens with your lessons. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time.
What that screen looks like
The screen itself sits behind a sign-in, so it is shown here. This is the mobile-number section of a player's own profile in the Golf Labs player app, as it appears on a phone before anything has been filled in — the box is unticked, which is its default state for everyone.

The confirmation message
The moment consent is recorded, that number receives one message and nothing else until something happens with the person's lessons:
Golf Labs: you're set up for lesson reminders and account notices. Msg & data rates may apply, frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
What we send
Only these, and only to the person they concern:
- Lesson reminders — a coach is reminded about a lesson two days ahead; a player about theirs the day before.
- A booking confirmation when a lesson is booked or approved.
- Lesson credits — a notice when a player's balance runs low or reaches zero.
- New practice — when a coach assigns a player a practice plan.
- A daily or weekly summary of upcoming lessons, for coaches only.
How often
Message frequency varies and depends entirely on how often someone books and takes lessons. There is no marketing, no promotional messaging, no newsletter, and no recurring campaign. A player with no lessons booked receives no texts at all.
Opting out
Reply STOP to any message to stop all of them. Reply HELP for help. Both are handled at the carrier level and take effect immediately.
You can also untick the consent box in your profile, or clear the mobile number entirely — either one withdraws consent on the spot and stops every text. None of these routes affects your account, your data, or the email you receive.
Costs
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. Golf Labs does not charge for messages.
Privacy
A mobile number is used to send the messages above and for nothing else. It is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used to build any kind of marketing list. Full details are in our privacy notice.
